The original decree was issued on 20 April, two days after the decisive American victory at the Battle of Cerro Gordo. Acting president Anaya here forbids any Mexican authorities from offering any peace accord or cease fire; violators were to be judged as traitors. This second edition was printed for the Mexico City federal district two days later. Garrett, Mexican-American War page 472; one in OCLC (Yale University).
