Additional Details

Contains numerous distinctively Mexican recipes--see Fritura Mexicana (page 86), Pipian de Guajolote (134), Frijoles Texcocanos (158), and many more. The editor Murguía released the first edition of his similarly titled but somewhat shorter "Manual del Cocinero, Dedicado a las Señoritas Mexicanas" in 1856. We trace only one other example of this 1853 printing at auction (Swann sale, 7 April 2008, lot 265, with defective title page). One copy in OCLC (University of Denver).
