First Mexican edition of a biography of the Italian saint Philip Neri (1515-1595), notable for its unusual title page by engraver Antonio de Castro. "Ramirez of Valencia with immense labour composed his epitome entirely with words drawn from the Holy Scriptures"--Bacci, Life of Saint Philip Neri, xxx. Also attributed to Juan de la Pedrosa. Medina, Mexico III:1705; Palau 246730-III; Sabin 67647. One other copy known at auction since 1949, which was sold through Swann in 2010 by another consignor.
