An open petition by the Basque settlers of New Spain, protesting against rampant lawlessness. The Mexican slave revolt of 1612 ("alboroto de los negros") is discussed on leaf 2, and again in a letter spanning leaves 13 and 14. Provenance: Maggs catalogue 612 (1935), item 604 (catalog description laid down on front pastedown). Palau 239137 (citing this copy from the Maggs catalogue); not traced in Medina or Sabin.
