Additional Details

A life of Saint Rose of Viterbo (1233-1251), a reclusive Italian mystic, written by the Irish Franciscan friar Luke Wadding (1588-1657) and translated into Spanish. The source text was likely taken from Wadding's 8-volume Annales Minorum.
We don't know the original collation of this volume, but it is apparently complete. It includes a title page, 3 leaves of preliminaries, a woodcut portrait facing the last preliminary page, another illustration on verso with a portrait of San Clara pasted down over it, and 12 unnumbered text leaves of the "Vida" with catchwords all matching up, with another portrait of San Diego pasted down on verso of the final text page. Decorative graphics are also pasted down on both pastedowns. We trace no other examples at auction, in Medina's Mexican Imprints, in Palau, or in OCLC. Listed in Beristain, Biblioteca hispano americana setentrional, 8:513.
