Additional Details

A Franciscan devotional tract. No other copies have been traced in OCLC, Medina, Palau, or at auction. 2 copies are known of a later 1794 "reimpreso" edition in 26 pages (Medina 12401, Palau 74132) which follows the text closely, although the title has a different subcaption: "Directorio manual de la Santa Escuela de Christo señor nuestro, para uso de la de Santo Domingo de esta corte."
The plate is titled "Tuam ipsius animam pertransibit gladius" and depicts a sword piercing Christ's breast, engraved by Joachimus Sotomaior after Josephus de Ibarra. It is somewhat crudely tipped in after the title page, but appears to be original to the work. The engraver Joaquin Sotomayor was active through the 1730s.
