Additional Details

Order for Mexico City to be divided into 16 parishes for religious purposes, eliminating a previous system under which Indians, Spaniards, mestizos, mulattos, and other castes were administered under separate parishes. Geographical divisions for each of the new parishes are listed. Archbishop Lorenzana had just recently been recalled to Spain to serve as Archbishop of Toledo. None traced in OCLC or at auction; not in Medina, Mexico.
