Additional Details

The Viceroy of New Spain announces the formation of the Real Compañia de Filipinas to advance trade with the Philippines and beyond, including the first American printing of King Carlos III's important decree. It granted the new company a near-monopoly on trade with the Philippines, cutting into New Spain's lucrative trade, although the famed Manila-Acapulco galleons continued. Not in Medina, Mexico.
