Folio, contemporary vellum, minor wear; lacking title page, secondary title bound in front, minor dampstaining and worming. Mexico: Juan Ruiz, 1622. First edition of the comprehensive social code of New Spain decreed by the Third Mexican Concilium in 1585, largely concerned with missionary activities and the rights of the Indians. Each source collates the preliminaries of this work differently, but this copy has the usual 3-page Juan de la Serna dedication which was not noted by Medina, Palau, or Sabin.
