Though today Chimalhuacán is a city just northeast of the Federal District in the State of Mexico, during the colonial period it was one of the major divisions of Chalco. These baptisms are each signed by the parish priest Juan Antonio Andonaegui and sometimes by other priests. Each gives the names and ages of the infants baptized (most of whom were only a day or two old), along with the names of their parents and padrinos or godparents. Some of the baptisms took place in neighboring churches such as San Esteban Tepetlixpan, San Miguel Atlauhtlan, Tepecoco, and Tlalamac. Some Indians came from further afield to have their children baptised--noted under the church name in the right margin.
