A series of royal decrees and supporting documentation, also known as a "cédula real de pureza de sangre," confirming the nobility and privileges of a Mexican family. Diego de Esquivel was a 16th-century Spanish nobleman who settled in Mexico and married the daughter of conquistador Pedro de Cuellar. This document was requested by their descendants in 1731, and traces the family history through the transcription of various royal grants and decrees. Among the transcribed documents is a 1572 request to restore the Cuellar family's control over the towns of Copilco, Caqualco, Real Pueblo de Ataco, Poquiapas, and Equinolapa y Tonala which were lost by the death of Pedro de Cuellar. The last few pages bring the family history up through 1771.
