First edition. Compiled shortly after the close of the Mexican-American War by a group of 15 young Mexican liberals, who offered a critical examination of the causes of their defeat. Santa Anna was not pleased (despite the inclusion of a nice frontispiece portrait), and later ordered the destruction of all copies of this book.
