Additional Details

Curious untitled Spanish-language map of Mexico as far north as San Francisco and the Great Salt Lake (labeled "no son conocidos los limites occidentales de este lago salada" - The western limits of this salt lake are not known). A decent amount of information is shown in the United States (Estados Angloamericanos) as far east as Cincinnati.

Joseph Drayton spent his early career engraving works for Philadelphia-based publishers, most notably the firm of Carey & Lea; in 1838 Drayton joined Charles Wilkes to serve as company illustrator for the United States Exploring Expedition.
