Additional Details

The earliest broadside in this lot is the 23 May 1849 Puebla publication of an 18 May presidential decree by José Joaquin Herrera, authorizing the government to contract a railroad from Veracruz to the capital, and thence to a Pacific port. This line was first discussed in 1837, but construction of Mexico's first railroad did not begin until 1864. No copies are traced in OCLC of this broadside from Mexico's rail pre-history. The lot also includes 2 railroad decrees from 1856, and 6 from 1868.
