Additional Details

Many of these pieces satirize current news stories in verse. Most credit Antonio Vanegas Arroyo as publisher. The renowned artist José Guadalupe Posada is not named, but is tentatively credited as the artist for most of these pieces by the Library of Congress and the Bancroft Library, which hold large collections. One is signed in print by Posada. Posada is best known for his calavera prints using skulls and bones, although these use different imagery. A complete list of all 27 pieces is available by request.
