A Mexican general's detailed report on the 25 October 1840 Battle of Saltillo, which led to the demise of the short-lived Republic of the Rio Grande just south of Texas. The rebel forces consisted mainly of Texan volunteers under Samuel Jordan. Montoya explains that the Mexican rebel leaders agreed to abandon Jordan, who was barely able to escape back to Texas.
