Contains the text of two proclamations issued on 24 and 25 September 1835, with Texas on the verge of armed rebellion--just a week before the Battle of Gonzalez opened the fighting. The first begins: "El estado de la república es verdaderamente peligroso, y está al alcance de todos lo crítico de nuestra situacion. . . . De esta situación á la anarquía desenfrenada no hay ni dos dedos de distancia. . . . La gravedad del mal exije remedios enérgicos y no sufre demoras en su aplicacion."

In translation: "The state of the republic is truly dangerous, and our critical situation is understandable to all. . . . From this situation to unbridled anarchy is not even two fingers away. . . . The seriousness of the evil demands energetic remedies without delay in their application."
