Additional Details

Divides the Corps of Engineers into brigades, including "la brigada de los Estados Internos de Oriente": the states of Durango, Chihuahua, Nuevo-México, Tamaulipas and Coahuila y Tejas. This brigade was required (in translation) to have "a thorough understanding of the borders with the United States of the North; the necessary fortification projects and defense plans will be the constant focus of their work."

"La brigada de los Estados Internos de Occidente" covered Sonora and the Californias: "The repeated military surveys and precise geographical-political descriptions will provide insight into these vast and interesting regions." 2 in OCLC, and none traced at auction.
