Letterpress broadside, 17 x 12 1/4 inches, on sealed paper, signed with paraph as Viceroy and Conde of Venedito, and countersigned by Jose Ygnacio Negreyro y Soria as secretary; docketed on verso, several small holes, the largest being 1/2-inch with loss of two letters; uncut. Additional Details

An important and little-known Spanish decree offering amnesty to American and French citizens who had been fighting alongside Mexican rebels. At the core of this broadside are 17 April and 2 May 1820 decrees by the Minister of State in Madrid offering amnesty to American and French prisoners captured in America. The appended 30 June decree extends this to all foreign nationals except for the British.
While the number of Americans fighting for Mexican independence was never huge, some joined the expedition of Francisco Xavier Mina, including printer Samuel Bangs and John Davis Bradburn. Not in OCLC, and none known at auction.
