Additional Details

These codices were originally compiled by a Franciscan friar and his Aztec associates from 1545 to 1590, and are considered one of the best documents of Aztec history and culture. This was one of the earliest facsimiles, compiled and edited by the Mexican scholar Francisco del Paso y Troncoso (1842-1916). It was lithographed by A. Ruffoni of Florence circa 1905-07, but apparently not released until 1926. 'La reproduccion de los codices en colores es perfecta y de gran belleza'--Palau 284998.
