These codices were originally compiled by a Franciscan friar and his Aztec associates from 1545 to 1590, and are considered one of the best documents of Aztec history and culture. This was one of the earliest facsimiles, compiled and edited by the Mexican scholar Francisco del Paso y Troncoso (1842-1916). It was lithographed by A.
