Additional Details

Includes 3 pages of instructions by doctors Jose Ribes and Manuel Bonafos on how to perform a cesarean section, saving a newborn child after the death of the mother, titled "Modo de hacer la operacion cesarea despues de muerta la madre" and dated Madrid, 25 October 1803. This was apparently the first Mexican printing of this account; it first appeared in a 13 April 1804 cedula in Madrid, was later printed in Buenos Aires in 1805. Also included in this printing are other unrelated documents dating back to 1781, all copied and published in Mexico by pro-secretario Pedro Ocon. Only one copy listed in OCLC, at the National Library of Medicine, and none located at auction.
