Documents relate to a request by an ex-slave for a pension. Included is the formal partly Printed Application form Accomplished in Manuscript and Signed by King with an "X". Also are two Autograph pieces by people close to King, one stating that he was not at home during the war, and the other stating that he served with King. The last is a Typed Note Signed regarding the application, with a Manuscript Note added stating that King had served as a cook with the 20th Mississippi Regiment and had carried a wounded officer off the battlefied, and closing with, " . . . We had better grant Moses a pension as he will not last long."
