Uncommon Legal Instruments. The Proof of Ownership states that Emeline McWilliams was the owner of a slave named Cyrus Collins, who enlisted in the 9th Regiment United States Colored Troops. The second document states that the slave did enlist and further appropriates the sum of $100 to the former owner of the soldier.
