Includes: one large cabinet card (6-1/2x4-1/4 inches) of Hobbs in uniform, a mounted group photograph (image 6-1/2x8-1/2 inches) of Hobbs with his unit of the 24th or 25th Infantry; a watercolor portrait (11-1/2x7-1/4 inches) of an older Hobbs, a couple of other photographs not identified, a copy of the Colored American Magazine and several other ephemeral items. should be seen Vp, 1890s

Small but interesting group of material from an African American veteran. Includes a large photograph of a unit of the 24th or 25th Infantry shows a young white lieutenant front and center. Some of these men have small, five-sided medals on their chests of a type we were unable to identify. William Hobbs was not found in Moebs' "Black Soldiers, Black Sailors, Black Ink."
