Brass medal, 1-1/2 x 7/8 inches, showing crossed sabers and muskets, with canons on each side; with pot metal pin-back, to which is attached a red white and blue tri-color silk ribbon, upon which is printed '1st U.S. Col. a fine example of a rare and important reunion medal. This was an especially important reunion year for African American vets, being the 50th anniversary of their having joined the service in 1863.
