A circular from Union General Rosencrans regarding the supplying of the military railroad between Nashville and Mitchellville with wood. Adding that "If the above order is not attended to, the General commanding directs that all negroes and teams along the road be pressed into service, and will be made to cut and haul the wood necessary to supply the Road." Signed in print "Brig. Gen''l Ward." At the bottom, someone has added in ink "And in this order you will see what the Citizens and Niggers have to do. Charley."
