Additional Details

Includes a rare example of a yellow, "Dixie" cover, showing an enormous snake (Secession) wrapping itself around a nude woman, clearly meant to be the South. Other covers show a group of shackles, General Bragg hanging from a palmetto tree, another man being hung from the tree of Liberty, etc. All quite striking and in keeping with the more aggressive style of cover that came later in the war.
