Additional Details

Two of these four carte de visite photographs are No's 2 and 5 from a large series of images of slaves issued by Charles Paxton, often sold to raise funds for the Freedmen's Aid Society and other charitable groups. These four images show Rebecca in several poses with her hair in tight braids as well as loose at her neck.
