Additional Details

A wonderful scrapbook assembled by Private First Class Charles R. Wright, who not only took the opportunity to go to school to improve himself while overseas, but attended courses in French as well. Charles Wright is mentioned affectionately in Addie Hunton and Katherine Johnson's book, 'Two Colored Women with the American Expeditionary Forces' (page 106). The scrap book consists of 30 pages, beginning with a list of fellow enlistees; the subsequent pages are filled with Wright's observations, written in a neat script. Affixed to the pages are photographs, large portions of his French lesson plans, two patches, real photo post cards, letters and cards from home, French money, and a variety of tickets from places he visited, like the Tuileries and local cinema, and a special give-away from the makers of Kolynos toothpaste, "The Kolynos Parley Voo Booklet.'
