Additional Details

The drawings are mostly schematics of tools used, but also include layouts of various mines. The two authors worked at the Peninsula Mine and the Jackson Mine in Michigan, the Kansas Mine in Colorado (located near Central City) and the Chester Mine in Massachusetts. The memoir reads like a "how to" book on mining, detailing each step of the process, from sinking the shafts to washing the ore.<
