A series of 14 well-composed and professional photographs documenting miners at work, including their instruments, labor, and working conditions. The gritty, textural imagery showcases both the immense physical labor and extreme conditions of the job, as well as details of the environment. Silver prints, the images measuring 8¾x6½ inches (22.2x16.5 cm.), and slightly smaller, and the reverse, mounted recto only. Small folio, gilt-lettered leather, rubbed at the edges; tied binding; with a dated inscription in ink on the first page.
