The second broadside printed in Montana Territory. When the Streeter copy appeared at auction it was the only copy known. "This previously unrecorded one page charge to Montana's first grand jury, delivered December 5, 1864, marks the beginning of legal administration of justice in Montana. . . . Judge Hosmer discusses the previous attempt at preservation of order by the vigilance committees and comments upon the need of extra-legal action. . . . While praising the work of the vigilance committees, Judge Hosmer warns the jury of the danger of the continuance of such organizations"--Streeter sale IV:2211.
