The Perpetual Emigrating Fund was created in 1850 to encourage Mormon migration from Europe to Utah. Included here are: Receipt issued by a Liverpool shipping firm to president of the British mission Franklin D. Richards for passage of 61 adults and 34 children to Philadelphia, 24 February 1855 Partly-printed promissory note issued by the Perpetual Emigrating Fund for the transport of David Chambers and family from Glasgow to Salt Lake City, 4 September 1855 Pair of manuscript promissory notes issued by emigrants Harriet Husbands and Hans Pieter Johnsen to George Q. Cannon, Florence, NE, June 1860 Agreement to repay Cannon "on our arrival in Great Salt Lake City" with "hand carts, teams, cattle &c" as necessary, signed by 49 emigrants (almost all of them Scandinavian). Florence, NE, 6 July 1860 Group of 4 partly printed receipts issued by the Emigration Office to various emigrants for goods supplied from the warehouse, each detailed on verso.
