first edition of the Joseph Smith family history prepared by his mother. The introduction is by Orson Pratt. The first 72 pages are devoted to personal recollections of Smith's ancestors and extended family, interspersed with genealogical tables going back to 1666. This is followed by her extensive biography of his son from age 14 through his death. The book was printed without the authorization of Brigham Young, who condemned it for inaccuracy in 1865. An approved edition was issued in Salt Lake City in 1902. Flake 8080; Howes S637 ("aa"); Sabin 83496.
