Third edition, first state (unbroken text on page 9, without the index leaves issued in 1841). Only about 2,000 copies were prepared in the first state, and about the same of the later states, making it a smaller print run than the 1830 first edition. It is thus considerably scarcer at auction; no other copies known at auction in the past 15 years (the last being at Swann, 11 September 1997, lot 373).
