A group of approximately 210 mugshots from Rochester, New York, most dated to the Prohibition era.
A compelling and cohesive group of mugshots all from the same city and on the same police department mounts, including some women and African American subjects, but primarily men brought in for petty and small crimes. Silver prints, the images measuring overall approximately 3x4 1/2 inches (7.6x11.4 cm.), the card mounts slightly larger, most with the name of the sitter and a numeric notation, in the negative, and each with printed backs from the Police Department of Rochester, New York, with fields for the name, crime, age, and other identifying features, as well as a crime and arrest date filled in, in ink, on mount verso. 1914-29
