Additional Details

a very early use of the term "jass," precursor to the word "jazz." The poster refers to the band as "America's Greatest Jassers. You've heard them on phonographs---Now hear and see them also." Earl Fuller's band was a regular at Rector's in New York and recorded on the Victor and Edison labels, and was one of the first to play numbers by the New Orleans Original Dixieland Jass Band. The origin of the word "jazz" is one of the most sought-after word origins in modern American English. The word's intrinsic interest has resulted in considerable research, and its history is well documented. The American Dialect Society named it "The word of the Twentieth Century."
