Additional Details

Two posters advertising a host of gospel stars. Gospel music has always been a centerpiece of the black religious experience. From the earliest recorded (taken down) music appearing in William Frances Allen's "Slave Songs of the United States (1867), the Jubilee Singers of the 1870's and in any black church from their earliest roots until today, gospel music has given us Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and scores of other singers. It has influenced "Rock and Roll" and "Soul Music" more than any other single source.
