Holiday died just three years after publishing this autobiography, at the age of 44. This copy is inscribed to "Bob," and was acquired from the dealer Lorne Bair, who stated that Bob "was an amateur Bay Area musician and fellow drug addict who would later become director of the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic."
