Additional Details

an almost pristine copy of a rare 78 rpm record. Written by Robert Cameron Rogers and Thelbert Nevins in 1898, "The Rosary" was an immensely popular sentimental ballad. The present 1921 recording of it is the first recording and it is performed here by African-American coloratura Marianna Johnson with the orchestra lead by the noted African-American composer William Grant Still.
