One of the cartes (the only one with the photographer's name) is signed in pencil 'Chrissie Millie' on the reverse. Vp, circa 1870's
A representative group of material relative to the famous 19th century conjoined twins. Aside from the 'freak' attraction the sisters presented, they were genuinely talented and could play a number of instruments as well as sing. These three cartes de visites show the girls when quite young, possibly in their teens. The next photograph shows them possibly in their twenties. The third photo shows a pair of mature women, standing by an elaborate breakfront, possibly in their home. The fourth item is a small chromolithograph of the twins which was possibly sold or handed out at their concerts.
