Additional Details

a very attractive, pictorial theatre broadside, with numerous vignettes from acts in the review. The Florida Blossom Minstrels troupe was the creation of Charles Douglass, (1870-1940 ) son of a Georgia slave. The troupe was formed in 1909, and immediately drew large crowds. While their home base was the Douglass Theatre in Macon, the Blossoms were among the most in demand minstrel troupes in the land, with a large travelling entourage. The Douglass Theatre also became a hub for Macon's black community, showing films as well as vaudeville reviews.
