Additional Details

Lance Taylor, better known as Afrika Bambaataa, was one of the pioneers of hip hop (and more recently dogged by child abuse allegations). The earlier of these two fliers is for a 5 October 1979 show at Bronx's James Monroe High School, sponsored jointly by Bambaataa's Nubian Productions and the school's baseball team(!). This was one of his several performances at the school from the 1977-1980 period. Also on the bill were other early hip hop legends such as DJ Jazzy Jay and Lisa Lee. The second flier has no year but is apparently from 1 October 1986, after Bambaataa had experienced some mainstream success. The performance was at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, CA, and also featured Shango and The Bonedaddys.
