Additional Details

This song was composed by Philip Phile for Washington's inauguration in 1789. It served as an unofficial national anthem for many years, and remains the official Vice Presidential anthem today. This version was arranged by recent British immigrant Raynor Taylor, one of the earliest composers active in America. Dichter & Shapiro, page 21.
