An excellent image of violinist Billy Waters, a well-known London 'busker' or street musician. Waters was born in New York, sometime in the last quarter of the late 18th century. He lost his leg as a sailor, after a fall from the top sail mast of a ship. He was well-known for his witty verses, made up to accompany his violin tunes.
