An 1850 appearance of T. D. Rice, the original Jim Crow, "alias Prince Maraboo-ram-jam cow-row-how-cow-santa-cruz-janjalang-de-ding-dong." This is also a curious spoof on Uncle Tom's Cabin before it was even published. The sub-title of "Life Among the Foo Foos" certainly sounds a lot like "Life Among the Lowly" the sub-title to Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin. The latter was serialized in the New Era beginning in June of 1851, so it must be a coincidence.
