On February 6, 1909, at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, Sembrich, as Violetta from La Traviata, gave her last stage performance, with Enrico Caruso performing as Alfredo. The following night, a reception and dinner were held at the Hotel Astor whose attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Mahler.
