Napoléon II: ". . . Tylly was motivated only by a deep religious and patriotic feeling; he was devoted to religion and to his sovereign; his long life was victorious and rich in outstanding accomplishments. He considered himself as a supporting force for the religion of his fatherland and for the service of his monarch, believing his only distinction to be carrying out the intentions and wishes of the monarch. . . . He was attached to God and his monarch . . . with all the more fidelity since neither wife nor children . . . shared his devotion . . . ."
