A vast archive with prints depicting John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, and Scott Carpenter. The group includes photographs of satellites and rockets awaiting launch; some images made from orbiting aircraft; astronauts performing flight tests; survival training in the jungles of Panama and the deserts of Nevada; behind the scenes views at headquarters, scientists at work; and artist renderings of aircraft launches and missions (including some futuristic views of the future of space travel). Also includes three chromogenic prints, one from Apollo 11. Silver prints, the images measuring 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), and slightly smaller, and the reverse, with various N.A.S.A. hand stamps, other identifying hand stamps, typed captions, clipped captions, and/or notations, in pencil or ink, on verso; enclosed in contemporary binders. 1959-75
