Peter Abadie Sarpy (1805–1865) had a long and storied career as a fur trader and ferry operator in Nebraska Territory stretching back to 1824. In this document, he sells his share of the Elk Horn and Loup Fork Bridge & Ferry Company to James C. Mitchell. with--an early partly printed Nebraska deed from the Florence Land Company to Eliza K. Mitchell, 23 September 1857. This company was founded in 1854 by James C. Mitchell to handle the sale of the abandoned Mormon winter quarters.
